Most long formal dresses ask you to choose between coverage and shape. The Eleanor answers with a halter neckline, which manages both at once.

The halter takes the weight at the back of the neck, so the bodice stays put through dinner and dancing without a single adjustment. From there the fabric runs uninterrupted to the floor, and the length does the rest of the work.

It reads as one line from top to bottom, with nothing arguing in between.
